If I have never done CrossFit before, is it still right for me?

Like anything that’s new, there’s typically a learning curve before you feel completely confident and get the hang of it. Our coaches are also trained to modify and scale the movements  so you can jump right into the right workout for your and start making progress right away. Our classes include educational skill work to help you learn movements so you can continue with your forward progress over time. Plus we use a unique system called the Level Method to help find exactly what your current fitness looks like. Each day you will have a customized workout just for YOU!

I’m out of shape and CrossFit looks intimidating. Should I train or get in shape before I come try CrossFit West Houston?

You will be met where YOU are. Through a series of assessments, you will find out exactly where your level of fitness is right now. Armed with that information, you and your coaches create a customized workout for you.  Our coaches are trained to help you modify and scale the workout to meet your fitness needs. This means each workout is designed to achieve your individual fitness goals. There will also be clear steps to help you progress to the next level!

How do I get a feel for the gym before I sign up?

We believe that our program offers a unique service and in order to understand if you’re a good fit to join, we take each interested athlete through a complimentary introductory session. You and a coach will go over your goals, do a movement screen, and find a level in two categories. After that session you have a week trial to try the classes and experience the great CFWH Community.

I’m a female, will I get big and bulky doing CrossFit?

With a clean diet and balanced training that includes a variety of body weight movements, weightlifting, and cardio exercises will make you lean, athletic and fit!

I’m a guy and I simply want to be muscular and ripped. CrossFit looks like a bunch of cardio, can it get me there?

If you train smart, follow our weightlifting protocols and eat sound nutrition then yes, we can help you attain the “ripped and muscular” physique you desire. We incorporate a variety of weight training and gymnastic movements. If you commit 100% you’ll not only have the physique you want, but the fitness to back it up.

Can I get enough attention in a group setting?

Yes! Our coaching staff is trained to manage groups of people in a class setting. We generally stick with moderate sized classes, so you will have the attention you need in order to have a safe and successful workout.

I’ve heard CrossFit is dangerous and my doctor/therapist says I should avoid it because I’ve been prone to injury in the past.. is this true?

All physical training programs come with the risk of injury. That being said, CrossFit is no more dangerous than any other fitness routine. And it’s certainly better than no program at all. Our number one priority is to make sure our athletes reach their PEAK potential while taking long term overall health and fitness into account. Injuring yourself is counterproductive to this.

CrossFit West Houston has protocols to ensure safety procedures. First step is the Movement Screen in your first session. Second step is the Level Method which has 4 Core Elements that have built in safety features that prevent you from doing things before you are structurally prepared. CrossFit West Houston has professionals on site to assist you with prehab/rehab too!

There are lots of CrossFit gyms out there, which one is right for me?

We encourage anyone seeking out a CrossFit, or any other fitness, program to do their homework. Every gym has its own personality, culture, focus and training philosophy. You should choose a program that is right for you and is something you can stick with. Which means it’s convenient, comfortable and doable for you.

I’m an athlete and I want to improve at my chosen sport. Can CrossFit help me with that?

That depends. CrossFit is a broad and general fitness program. Sports have specific needs and limiting factors that should be addressed. CrossFit West Houston has a variety of coaches with a diverse educational background that can address specific sport needs via private 1 on 1 or small group training and programming
