Paul Carrillo

Paul is a Level 1 CrossFit Instructor and has been a member of CrossFit West Houston since February 2014. He was born and raised in the Houston area and attended the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Psychology. He and his wife Julie, also a member at CFWH, have 3 children and live in the Spring Branch area. When Paul is not working or coaching, you can find him working out daily at CFWH or very involved in coaching his kids’ sports in the local area. Prior to CrossFit, Paul was an active long distance runner and a member for years at the local “globo” gym working daily on bench press and bicep curls. Through a friend referral, Paul found CrossFit and never turned back. In Paul’s words, “CrossFit changed my life.” Since finding CrossFit, Paul is more fit, healthier, stronger, and faster than he’s ever been… not to mention, he eats better. The reasons for becoming a member of CFWH is the community, the coaches, and the intriguing weekly programming. The friendships he’s made are also invaluable. The overall knowledge of fitness he’s gained from fellow coaches and the community is immeasurable. What he loves the most about coaching at CFWH is passing on what he has learned to other members to help improve, learn new skills, set PRs, and achieve health and fitness goals on a daily basis. A specialty and strength for Paul is performance through proper form and technique. Paul is a stickler for perfect form because it’s essential to improving functional movements, increasing strength, and preventing injury. In addition, Paul has found Pull-Ups to be another specialty and constantly provides practice tips and encouragement to those seeking help to improve themselves.
