For the last 14 years, the War on Terror has claimed many lives. In combat and out of combat. We in crossfit perform many Hero WODs on occasion to commemorate the brave men and women that represent these WODs. Unfortunately this country has lost many a warrior that has survived combat but could not survive post combat. Too often people that have survived the most harrowing experience of combat, can not survive the aftermath of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Weekly we lose good people to this condition.
This year Crossfit West Houston will do a special WOD on Veteran’s Day to, one, raise awareness of this disorder; two, to raise money for a local organization called Camp Hope that helps Veterans cope; and, three, remember a man that was briefly a member of Crossfit West Houston who recently lost his life. Michael Gilman was a decorated Combat Medic in the 101st Airborne division. Below is the WOD we will be doing.
Please plan to attend that day to show support for these brave men and women that struggle daily with a condition that has had many names over the years, Combat Fatigue, Shell Shock, and PTSD. We will be collecting donations in food or possibly supplies.
