Who said football season couldn’t be paleo friendly? Here are 5 finger food ideas!
1) Sausage (or meatballs) on toothpicks:
(I like using Applegate Farm or Kielbasa beef sausages. Just grill, slice and assemble! If they’re pre-cooked, then slicing and pan frying gives them a perfect, slight crisp)
TX BBQ style – Jalapeno sausages – pickled pearl onion or dill pickle – cherry tomato
Italian – Italian sausage – canned artichoke hearts – roasted red bell pepper – fresh basil leaf
2) Dips
You can never go wrong with guacamole!
Baba Ghanoush – smokey, sour, middle eastern dip made with roasted eggplant, tahini (sesame seed paste), lime, garlic, cumin and chili powder. Here’s a link to the recipe.
3) Chips
Sweet potato chips (Sunwell brand available in the gluten-free section at Bunker Hill HEB)
Kale Chips
Oven made Sweet Potato fries – Recipe from NomNom Paleo
Plantain chips – Recipe from Everyday Paleo
4) Roasted nuts.
Your best bet is to buy your favorite nuts raw, and then roast them in the oven (350, 15 mins) and season with salt and cayenne powder.
5) Sweet Treats
Mango/kiwi/berry salad with chilled coconut cream. Place a can of coconut milk (or cream available at Asian grocery stores like Ranch 99) in the refrigerator overnight and scoop off the top semi-soft coconut cream.
