It can happen from time to time. Sometimes it isn’t so bad, just a little skin. And sometimes it is a huge bloody mess. No fun! We all fear the ripped callous. Nobody wants to miss valuable training time so what should we do.
Prevention
First protect your hands by taking care of them. Use a whatever strategy that works. For some it is a Pedi egg. Some it is a shaver. Others it is a pumice stone. And still others it is all three. Use whatever works to keep the pads down, especially if there is dead white skin.
Treat
Once you have them down treat the skin. A product that I like to use is pictured above…Corn Huskers Lotion. A little bit will go a long way. Once you are out of the shower and have filed them down take a little dab and work it in.
Protect
The sock glove above works really well. It works for any movement that creates lots of friction, kipping pull ups, cleans, KB swings, cleans and Snatches. Cut off the top half of a tube sock and place it over the callouses. See the picture below. You can protect hands that may be about to rip and ease the burning of high friction movements.

Great tips! They do work and the corn husker lotion is great, and dryes quick. Thanks Rob!!
Was that sock on the ‘lost and found’ bin? I am missing one sock. Oh well.
