Instead of feeling lethargic for hours after completing a WOD, I began to feel energized. In 6 weeks, I lost 12.8 lbs and lost 4 inches from my waist!
When Rob first announced that we’d be doing a Paleo Challenge, I had major reservations. I was fully aware that my eating habits would rival the worst of the worst; I just wasn’t sure that I was ready to give them up. I liked eating leftover chocolate cake for breakfast! And if I were to slow my ice cream intake to less than a half gallon a week- would all my stock investments in Blue Bell be worth it?!? But after serious consideration, and some peer pressure from my dear friend Steph, I decided to take on the Paleo Challenge. I’m an all or nothing kind of gal, so that night I rolled up my sleeves, dug through the cabinets, and filled up multiple trash bags full of my beloved junk food.
The Paleo Challenge was very difficult, yet immensely rewarding. In just a few days, I noticed majore differences in my energy level and also my athletic performance. Instead of feeling lethargic for hours after completing a WOD, I began to feel energized. In six weeks, I lost 12.8 lbs and lost 4 inches from my waist. I hit PR’s on nearly all my olympic lifts and was able to complete the Met Cons much faster then before. Additionally, just six weeks of eating “real” food totally transformed my taste buds. Throughout my entire life, I had never liked fruit- I always found it to be sour and tart, much unlike the sweet desserts that I enjoyed. However, six weeks without processed sugar, and suddenly fruit tasted sweet! Thanks to the Paleo Challenge, I tried lots of new vegetables, found dozens of great healthy recipes, ate my very first apple, peach, raspberry, and mango, and orderd meat from the grocery meat counter for the first time (all of that sad, but true). Thanks so much Rob, Sandra and the CFWH folks for all your advice and support during the challenge- I learned so much and have really changed my lifestle because of this experience.
Thanks! Kristine F
