I am now 8 months in, 45lbs total weight loss, stronger and faster but most importantly I am not on meds, and I have made life long friends that saw me at my lowest and are continueing to lift me up to new heights.
Nine months ago I went to my annual check up… I knew it was not going to be good. I had been on the road for work for the last 3 months and gained 20 lbs after struggling to maintain an already overweight 207lbs. At 33 and 5 foot 8 and now 227lbs I was easy pickings for the doc. My blood work came back looking more like ingredients to gravy and my blood pressure was through the roof. I had to do something or the doc was going to put me on meds and I knew that was a slow death sentence. She wanted to see me in 3 months. I had approached the fork in the road.
I looked to my wife for help. Eva has always been active and fit but she had started cross fitting 6 months earlier and I could see a change in her physically and mentally. She was coming home from work outs happier than when she left! At this point It was a struggle for me to even get to the gym much less do anything that broke a sweat aside from putting on my jeans. I had to get in on this. I finally went after several of her invites.
First days, weeks, and month was brutal… In a good way. Rob scaled everything to my ability. He has an uncanny sense of knowing what you are capable of and then nudging you a little past that. All the while the other coaches and cross fitters are pulling for you every step of the way… They only want you to succeed as I now only want success for any other cross fitter that steps into the box.
3 months in I was down 25 lbs and the doc said keep doing what your doing, see you in 3 months. We started paleo challenge at gym when was down 28 lbs. I dropped another 12 lbs and was hitting PRs every work out and CFWH had me coming back for more.
I am now 8 months in, 45 lbs total weight loss stronger and faster but more importantly I am not on meds, and I have made life long friends that saw me at my lowest and are continuing to lift me up to new heights.
Personal thanks to my wife Eva for the introduction to CFWH and Rob, Aja, Steph, Ryan, Chris, Mo and the other cross fitters who helped me along the way and continue to push me to the next level.
