I drank the Kool-aid and am a CrossFit Evangelist spreading thew word to anyone who will listen. And I owe a huge to debt of gratitude to you and your staff at CrossFit West Houston!

Let’s go down memory lane 1.5 years ago. Here I am at 40 years of age, a reasonably successful partner at a large consulting firm and we land an account in the Houston area whre I will travel for the foreseeable future. So the first thing I do is figure out what gym I should join so I can get my morning run and daily lifting in. I considered myself to be in decent shape(more on that later) and continued my “routine” at a local globo gym.

A few months later a colleage urges me to attend this groupl workout. He said it’s like nothing you have ever done before and it will kick your ass. And he said the best part is that it will only consume minutes of your day, and replace the 1.5 hours you spend in the gym. Well of course I’m skeptical telling him he’s full of sh%$. But after enough prodding, I reluctantly attend my first WOD at CrossFit West Houston in July of 2009.

While I don’t remember the exact workout, I do remember this: I needed to scale well below several petite women, and I couldn’t finish the WOD! But I was hooked. I quickly learned that I was not in shape and that I was extremely ignorant whent it came to fitness and nutrition. I was doing everything the wrong way. I thought jogging on the treadmill and eating whole grains was the way to go….

Fast foward to today:

While I still get the occasional run in, I now attend or perform CrossFit WOD’s 5x/week and I subcribe to the Paleo nutrition philosphy.

CrossFti has been life-altering. Let me throwh out a few stats:

-Weight down from 235 to 200

-Waist size down from 40 to under 34

-Blood pressure down from 120/88 to 110/68

-HDL Cholesterol up from 54 to 76

-LDL Cholesterol down from 151 to 103

-Mile time down from 8+ something to almost 6 minutes

-Strength increase accross the board

-Couldn’t do sing unders; to now doing double unders with a jump rope

– I finish all WODS!
