CrossFit West Houston is excited to announce that we have committed to supporting Team RWB. Team RWB is a a veteran support organization whose mission is to enrich the lives of wounded veterans and their families. Ultimately, they aim to transform the way wounded veterans are reintegrated into society when they return from combat and exit their position in the Active Duty force or National Guard.
CFWH will be seeking opportunities to support this charity. Hopefully, we as a community can be a great resource to this charity. There will be opportunities to do special fund raising wods, to special CF classes for local wounded vets, become an advocate and assist in special events for Team RWB.
CFWH Bryan Phillips, a veteran, is actively involved in this charity. He shared that one way that CFWH can help is to provide manpower for Team RWB as they sponser an aid station on the run course of the Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas Triathlon on May 21, 2011.
I have comitted to be a volunteer for the afternoon shift from 2:00 to 7:00 PM. And just for the spirit of involvement, I am committing to doing 4 burpees per CFWH ahtlete who volunteers and fufills their shift in supporting Team RWB. I will perform these burpees on Saturday May 28, 2011 after the 8:30 AM Class.
Their greatest need is enthusiastic and motivated helpers to man the run aid station. Duties to be executed during your time at the aid station:
Hopefully, you will come out to support for the great cause, but if it is just to watch me suffer through burpees, so be it. Just to help you with the math, 100 CFWH athletes volunteering and showing up = 400 burpees…..Just sayin.
For information on how to volunteer, comment to this post and I will forward the details via email.

Thanks Rob! This is going to be an awesome event! One of the athletes that is involved with our organization is named Tim O’Donnell and he is making his debut at the Ironman distance. He just won the San Juan Half-Ironman with an overall time of 3:49:29!
