I grew up in Houston, played various sports growing up but focused mainly on competitive swimming and soccer. I can appreciate and understand the obstacles we all come across in achieving a healthier lifestyle. I found my way into the gym in 2008 after I gained 50 pounds during my pregnancy with my son, Eli. It was at this time that I started to figure out how to transfer my background in soccer training to training in the gym. I have been a Massage Therapist since 2008 and in the Personal Training industry since 2010, spending 3 years at a privately owned traditional personal training gym teaching various forms of fitness from barre class, to spin class, teaching pilates and every now and then subbing for ZUMBA – all great facets for working out but something was missing.
My training before revolved around a number on the scale and getting my body to LOOK a certain way, and then I found CrossFit. I fell in love with CrossFit in the beginning of 2012 and have been hooked ever since. It helped to shift that mindset on looking a certain way to focusing more on WHAT MY BODY CAN DO, and life became a little less stressful and I started to find more joy in working out. CrossFit changed how I view fitness and living a happy, healthy lifestyle. I workout to make my overall life and well being better as well as strive to be a good role model. I try to relay these experiences through my coaching and interactions with others. I started coaching CrossFit in 2013 and in 2014 I left the gym I was at to coach it full time.
To make things better, my husband and I met while coaching at the same gym and married in the summer of 2016. We are a blended family with two boys, Jacob age 10, and Eli age 8. The most recent addition to our family is our four-legged friend, Murph, who you will probably see tagging along with me when myself or Alex coach.
One of the biggest joys I get is seeing a client accomplish something new and realizing how strong they are / can be. That combined with the smile and pure job on people’s faces = priceless. Reese Witherspoon said it best in Legally Blonde,
“ Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don’t shoot their husbands, they just don’t”
